PS cs4 problem and Alchemy

Mon Apr 6, 2009, 2:55 AM
Hey guys

Some time ago I instaled cs4, but I didnt used it for a while. Few days ago I started messing with program, instaled brushes and color wheels. The thing that cought my attention was lag of brush while using tablet, even mouse. I got new hardware 4 GB of Ram, 2.9 duo core and 512MB gfx card so come one. Pretty decent if you ask me.

I checked settings and increased memory usage and enabled Open GL support for ps, also updated drivers for my tablet and patched cs4 to 11.01 something. I cant see what is causing this brush lag. In cs2 I dont have this problem so I guess its cs4 problem. This issue is realy annoying and in effect I cant draw a line not getting mad. Responce of program for brush stroke is delayed and while you are finished with drawing a line, you can still see ps working on it. If i tried to make more sofisticated line with many angles- ps simply simpliffied curvy line into straight one. Of course I can still use cs2 but I realy like new look of cs4

I have heard that 32bit version of windows may be a problem.
My question to you is : Have you exerienced such lag while painting or using brush in cs4? Do you know what may cause it? How to fix it?

While not writing my master work I'm messing with Alchemy. If you havent heard of it its about time.

"Alchemy is an open drawing project aimed at exploring how we can sketch, draw, and create on computers in new ways. Alchemy isn’t software for creating finished artwork, but rather a sketching environment that focuses on the absolute initial stage of the creation process. Experimental in nature, Alchemy lets you brainstorm visually to explore an expanded range of ideas and possibilities in a serendipitous way". source - [link]
